Jerry continues to work at USGS editing reports and
publications. However, a change is coming down the pike. Since the
structure of the publications staff has changed to a centralized
national organization, one change seems to lead to another. Management
decided to reduce the network by another 40 positions, and Jerry's
position is one possibly to be cut. We know God has gotten us through these
struggles before and we have no doubt he will carry us through again. We
hope to be able to stay in the area for awhile longer. Stay tuned!
We lost Chuck this year. Chuck was the third of the seven Cox boys.
After suffering from dementia for several years, Chuck passed away in
April. |

Jerry had a great
time in September as he got to "kid sit" for 2 weeks while Kara and
Raymond went on a mission trip to El Salvador. School had started so
that meant Jerry was destined to cook, clean, and be taxi all alone. He
did great and Alex and Cassidy had a good time as well. They went to see
some of the sites in the area including the George Washington Carver
birthplace and a Civil War battlefield. Of course, all this counted for
their school time as I am sure Jerry filled them in on all the history
around what they saw. Here is Alex and Cassidy are shown at the George
Washington Carver Memorial near Neosho, Missouri. |

During that week in September, he took Alex and Cassidy to Norman,
Oklahoma, to let
the cousins spend some time together. Here they are at a Wild Animal
Park (rescue park for neglected or mistreated exotic animals. They
really had a good time getting acquainted with each other. |

The work on the house goes on and on and on. This year, Jerry added
hardwood floors to the dining area and replaced the flooring in the
kitchen and utility rooms. The siding on the outside still needs a
little more trim work to be finished. He added the cover on the deck.
Our biggest project was to pave the driveway. We started with a Bobcat,
but finished the leveling by hand. The gravel and recycled asphalt was
packed down after years of driving on it and we took pick and shovel to
it to break up into chunks to get it out. It will be nice this winter
when we are snow blowing not to scatter gravel through the flower beds
and lawn. |

Sharayah Sikkema, our adopted granddaughter at church,
is growing into a beautiful young lady. She went to the Dominican
Republic this past year and will return this summer. Being in the 9th
grade now, grandma sees her at school most days. |

Savannah, the younger sister, is in Middle School this year (6th
grade). She is a little more rambunctious than her older sister but
developing into a beautiful young Christian also. She plans to go to the
Dominican when she is old enough. |
